A 5.8-magnitude earthquake hit Yingjiang County in southwest China's Yunnan Province on Thursday afternoon, March 10, 2011, and at least 14 people were killed and 135 others injured after the 5.8-magnitude earthquake jolted Yingjiang County in southwest China's Yunnan Province, according to the county government.
The quake hit Yingjiang County of Dai-Jingpo Autonomous Prefecture of Dehong at 12:58 p.m. Beijing Time, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center. After that, several aftershocks hit the county. The nearest scenic spot―Tengchong County, is 80 kilometers (49.7 miles) from Yingjiang County. In addition, Yingjiang County is 600 kilometers (372.8 miles) from Kunming (the capital city of Yunnan Province), 300 kilometers (162 miles) from Lijiang and 400 kilometers (216 miles) from Dali, the earthquake will not affect the tours in above cities.
