Annual Naqu Horse Rase Festival held during Aug. 10-15

It is said that the Horse Rase Festival at Naqu area will be held during this Aug. 10-15 2009, which is the the most important folk festival in Tibet. Thousands of Tibetan will dress themselves and take their finest horse to attend the archery and horsemanship contest. Other folk activities and commodity fairs are also held. Are you interesting in this? Follow me, i am pleasant to give you some suggestion.
Usuaully, this takes 2 days trip out of Lhasa,
D1, at 9am leave Lhasa, on the way stop at Damxung(Dngxiong) for Lake Namtso(beautiful with its azure water and surrounding snow capped peaks), reach Naqu around 5pm. Overnight at the 2-star hotel (best available)
D2, get up earlier, drive out of Naqu twon (15km) to watch the grand Horse Rase Festival , return back Lhasa in the afternoon.
Travel tips:
Naqu area is over 4000 meters,
There will be 6-8 hours driving one way
The local accommodation service and facility is poor
The date might be changed according to the weather, so if it is possible, we highly suggest you staying for 5-7 days around Tibet (extending to Gyatze or Shigatse), then we could adjust accordingly.

So come with China Highlights, you could experience the beautiful natural landscapes and real Tibetan culture.
